Newton’s City Seal

The Mayor’s office has taken another step forward in replacing our city seal - and a decision whether or not to replace the seal (above) with one of the options below. The options below are result of a lot of effort, all of which I encourage you to explore here.

In the next several weeks, the city will be finalizing and adding color to the option that the council is being asked to vote on. The vote will determine whether or not to replace the current seal with a new option.

The city has conducted surveys and collected opinions and input. Despite their outreach, I have also heard that many people were unaware of this effort until very recently.

Personally, I believe that we can make some significant improvements to these three options, from the imagery to the language we include (or don’t). It is also worth noting that if we replace the seal, it will take time for the new version to be replaced everywhere it appears, as the city intends to make rolling updates as materials need to be re-ordered or or old equipment is replaced.
